Bengal's police transfers & postings go fully digital, Nabanna bans written applications

The West Bengal government has made police postings and transfers completely digital, eliminating written applications. According to a notification issued by Nabanna, all applications must be submitted through the PPMS mobile app or the e-HRMS portal. This rule applies to sub-inspectors (armed and unarmed), assistant sub-inspectors (armed, unarmed, and motor transport), constables, women constables, and police drivers. The online application window will remain open from March 18 to April 11, while transfers due to medical reasons can be applied for throughout the year.

As per official sources, any written applications submitted before this notification will be considered rejected. Only digital applications will be processed under the new system. To facilitate the transition, the government has decided to establish help centers at all district and unit headquarters, where trained police personnel will assist applicants. The system aims to ensure uniformity in the transfer process across all police ranks. Officials have instructed that the entire transfer cycle, from application to approval, be managed exclusively through the designated digital platforms.

The notification states that the e-HRMS portal and PPMS app will serve as the only platforms for submission and tracking of transfer requests. All police personnel eligible for transfer must register on these platforms, ensuring accuracy in records and applications. The state administration has informed all police units that no manual intervention will be allowed, and all requests must be processed through the designated portals.
